Make an impression

It’s all about making a great first impression. And that’s how I approach all my projects. Having spent my career in writing, creative services and brand strategy, I find my creativity thrives when I am able to conceive and transform an idea into a well-crafted piece that hits the mark and engages it audience. I began my career as a book editor—after leaving a Ph.D. program in Comp Lit in the heart of the Ozarks—and then moved on to agency copywriting and project management in Chicago, where I live with my partner in crime and my three kiddos in a mid-century split level on the edge of the city. I spent several years in creative director roles, including as a production direction for architectural and engineering trade magazines. While parenting young children, I continued freelancing, and, after returning to work full-time to write B2B content and thought leadership for an enterprise software solutions company, I have more recently geared my career toward content and brand strategy and work for Medline Industries, LP.

In terms of what inspires me, here it is in a nutshell: as a mom to three precocious kids, nothing excites me more than to create work that not only envisions, but fashions a world where the media and content my kids engage in everyday reflects them, as bi-racial, bi-cultural, gender expansive people. Oh, and a good bourbon cocktail every once in a while doesn’t hurt.
